01 · Overview

Client Overview

PI Industries Limited is a leading India-based agrochemical manufacturer, with production and quality control operations spanning multiple sites in India, including Panoli, Jambusar/Jamusar, and Udaipur. The company's manufacturing operations run on tight production cycles, where in-process quality decisions at each plant depend directly on how quickly and accurately QC laboratories can test and report results.

As production volumes grew across its multi-site network, PI Industries needed a way to connect its plant floor and QC laboratories in real time — rather than relying on manual sample handoffs and phone-based result reporting between the two.

02 · Challenge

The Challenge

For a multi-site agrochemical manufacturer, the QC lab isn't a back-office function — it's a checkpoint that production is waiting on. Ahead of implementing OasisLIMS, PI Industries' plant-to-QC workflow was constrained by four connected issues:

  • Disconnected plant-to-QC handoff: samples were manually registered and tracked at the plant, often facing delays before reaching QC after dispatch, with intermediate results relayed back to the plant by phone call rather than a shared system.
  • Manual data capture and paper dependence: instrument data was entered by hand, documentation and worksheets were paper-based, and calculations and reporting were done manually — all of which introduced transcription errors and slowed report turnaround.
  • Weak traceability and data integrity: the lack of a unified system left the organization without full sample traceability or a strong audit trail, and chemicals and reference standards were tracked with limited visibility into stock levels.
  • Operational drag on decision-making: delayed report and Certificate of Analysis (COA) generation, limited collaboration between QC and Manufacturing, and high dependence on paper records combined to raise operational costs, extend laboratory turnaround time (TAT), and slow production decisions.
03 · Solution

The OasisLIMS Solution

Oasis Infotech deployed OasisLIMS to connect PI Industries' plant and QC operations on a single platform, integrating both enterprise systems and the laboratory instrument fleet to remove manual steps from the plant-to-QC pathway.

01

Sample Management with SAP Integration

Sample Management now governs the full sample lifecycle — from registration at the plant, through dispatch and receipt at QC, to testing, review, and release — replacing manual, paper-based tracking with an electronic, auditable workflow. Integration with SAP keeps sample and batch information aligned with enterprise data, so plant, QC, and business systems are working from the same record rather than reconciling separately.

02

Large-Scale Instrument Integration

Around 150 laboratory instruments across PI Industries' QC labs were integrated directly with OasisLIMS, capturing results automatically instead of relying on manual instrument data entry — removing a major source of transcription error at this scale of operation.

03

Golden Batch Reporting via Process System Integration

OasisLIMS was integrated with the plant's process data system to support golden batch reporting — comparing production batch data against optimal ("golden") batch profiles to help manufacturing teams fine-tune batch recipes.

04

Real-Time Plant-Side Visibility

An online result display terminal at the plant site gives production teams direct, real-time access to QC results as they're released — removing the need for phone calls to QC for intermediate result reporting during a production run.

Faster sample turnaround time (TAT), driven by an electronic, single-system workflow in place of manual handoffs.
Time tracking of sample dispatch from plant to QC, giving visibility into where delays occur in the handoff.
Golden batch reporting to support optimization of production batch recipes.
An online result display terminal at the plant, eliminating phone calls to QC for intermediate results and supporting faster production decisions.
Instrument integration across roughly 150 devices, preventing manual transcription errors in results capture.
End-to-end sample traceability, from plant dispatch through QC test reporting.
04 · Business Impact

Business Impact

  • Shorter QC turnaround: electronic sample tracking and automated instrument data capture reduce the manual steps between sample dispatch and reportable results, shortening overall lab TAT.
  • Fewer production delays: real-time, plant-side result visibility replaces phone-based status checks, helping production teams react to QC results without waiting on a call-back.
  • Reduced transcription risk: automated capture from around 150 instruments removes a high-volume source of manual data-entry error from the QC process.
  • Stronger traceability and audit readiness: a single electronic record from plant dispatch to COA gives PI Industries a more defensible audit trail than the previous paper-based process.
  • Better-informed batch optimization: golden batch reporting gives manufacturing teams a data-driven reference point for refining production recipes, rather than relying on experience alone.
In Their Words

“Our plant teams no longer wait on a phone call to know where a batch stands. With results visible in real time and every sample tracked from dispatch to report, we've closed a gap that used to slow every production decision.”
